HEGEMONY SHIFT
The return of the Progigal Son
Editorial by Mike Routliffe
After a long absence from Hegemony Shifting, for the magazine anyway, we finally got around to putting out issue 2.
Don't assume that it'll be the same as the last, because that is what shifting is about: creating processes and then
challenging and updating the powers that follow or lead those processes. I'm rambling. But, that Is how I break out
of the symbols, and languages structures that often bind me. It Is amazing how many times we fall into the cycles of
using the same words repeatedly. Some mantras can be useful, but saying cool, sweet, or fuck many times as punctuation,
or others out of the sheer laziness of a mind not wanting to search for words with which to describe a feeling or
experience, are two of the main causes of apathy and loss of the ability to communicate. I guess the two things In
the last sentence are pretty much the same: an inability to connect in a human, read organic, way. As we move towards
the Hegemony Shift 3, we are calling for a deeper look Into the way civilization Is moving; a remaking and re-imaging
of our myths. Waged is a war of ideas and ideologies. We challenge you to infect the world with a creativity virus.
And as soon as we know everybody is heavily infected, or at least a carrier we need to spike the water with clarity
juice. The time to act is already past! Step up before you are distracted by the pretty baubles of culture, and
intricate masks of the vacuous and taste this new life you are feeling! The chaos that is being experienced on the
planet presently is an enabler that leads to new orders and new ways of thinking. So my message is in the form as much
as the content.
Let us ask the questions:
- Where is society going?
- Where do we attack and what weapons are the most effective?
- How can we organize as individuals and as a group to implement a change?
